August 2018 Update

I am pleased to report that the Bredon Big Day Out, which took place in June, was a great success. The afternoon kicked off with a parade from Bredon Hancock’s First School to the playing fields, with children, parents, grandparents and teachers walking side by side to celebrate the school's tercentenary. A fun packed afternoon followed with a wide range of activities, entertainment and stalls and the sun shone throughout. As well as the committee, who worked tirelessly throughout the day, we had fantastic support from our brilliant volunteers and the local community. We would especially like to thank the WI, Bredon Football Club, Gemma Greenwood and Friends of Bredon Hancock’s for their generous financial contributions, which (rest assured) will be put to good use! We are already starting to plan next year’s BBDO and are delighted be able to host an event that the whole community can get involved in and enjoy. If you have any ideas for events you would like to see held in the playing fields, please feel free to get in touch, either using our Facebook page or by emailing us at bredonplayingfields@gmail.com.

We are due to do another prize draw for our 200 club members in the next few weeks. If you would like to be in with a chance of winning £50, we are always looking for new members. Membership is just £10 a year and is used to help fund activities and maintenance of the playing fields. For further information, or to join up, please contact Ruth Odell on 772114 or email us using the email address above.

We would like to say a huge thank you to Dips Spar for donating £185 from a gin tasting evening that was held recently in Bredon Village Shop. Fantastic!

Our Play Ranger days have been taking place throughout the summer holidays and have been really well attended by families both from Bredon and further afield. Look out for a full write up on this in the next edition of the Parish Magazine, complete with photos of the fun.

As always, the maintenance volunteers have been meeting monthly to keep the park looking lovely. We are aware of several maintenance issues that need attention, such as the missing posts around the playground and some benches that have seen better days. We are working with the parish council to get these problems rectified ASAP. If anyone has any concerns, please contact us on the email above or the telephone the Parish Council directly on 01684 773984 (Parish Clerk Timothy Drew).
