Bredon Parish Mag Update

February 2019 Update

Firstly, I’m sure that some of you have noticed the repairs have been completed to the children’s play equipment in the park. It’s lovely to see it all looking so good and ready for use before spring. Progress has also been made regarding the new benches around the flower bed. Plinths are being laid as I write this, and hopefully the new benches will be in place before too long.

We have been in touch with Play Rangers and, following the success of 2018, are organising more play sessions for this year. Last year, we were fortunate enough to obtain a grant from Tesco to cover the cost of these sessions. It is unclear whether this will be possible again, but we have decided to fund these days ourselves if not. We really feel that they are valued and enjoyed by the community. Dates are still to be confirmed but watch this space.

Those of you that read my last update will know that the joint ‘Santa’s Sleigh’ event was a great success in December. We have recently received a cheque from Pershore Round Table for £475, which is just brilliant. A big thank you to them, and to the people of Bredon who were as friendly and generous as ever.

As well as from grants, events such as the Play Ranger days and Bredon Big Day Out, would not be possible without the financial support from our 200 Club. If you would be interested in joining, and helping to fund our beautiful park, then please contact Ruth Odell on 01684 772114 or email bredonplayingfields@gmail.com. For just £15 a year, you really can make a difference to your local community! Lastly, preparations are well underway for 2019’s Big Day Out. The day promises to be bigger and better than last year, with the addition of some music workshops and a variety of live bands. Save the date – Saturday 22nd June, we’ve already put in an order for sunshine! As previously, local businesses can have a stall for the afternoon for a small fee. If this would interest you, please contact Andrea at andrea.fleck@fivecounties.com or use our BCPR Facebook page to get in touch.
