May 2018 Update

We held our first Play Ranger day of the year in the Easter holidays and, despite the weather, we had a good turnout of children and parents braving the cold. A whole host of outside activities were on offer including bubble fun, making fabulous clay creations and face-painting.

If you fancy coming along to the next one, it’s in May half term, Wednesday 30th May from 10am to 4pm. Great activities and all completely free of charge. We’re even keeping our fingers crossed for a bit of sunshine! If you would like further information about what Play Rangers offer, please visit their website; https://playgloucestershire.org.uk/.

As I’m sure some of you know, work to organise ‘Bredon’s Big Day Out’ is well underway, with the big date set for Saturday the 23rd June. Last year we had an eclectic mix of skilled crafts people, local businesses and charities promoting themselves, running fund raising games and selling their wares. Stalls are priced at a very reasonable £12. IF YOU WOULD LIKE A STALL PLEASE CONTACT US ASAP BY EMAILING ANDREA AT Andrea.fleck@fivecounties.com TO RESERVE A SPACE. There are only a few spaces remaining.

This year we are thrilled to be working alongside Bredon Hancocks Endowed First School to celebrate their Tercentenary (that’s 300 year anniversary to you and I!). There will be a parade from the school to the playing fields just at 1.30pm and the children will be entertaining us throughout the afternoon with singing and dancing. They are all working hard practicing and we are so looking forward to seeing them perform. Inside the hall, there will be an exhibition about the school over the past three centuries and the WI will be providing some much-appreciated refreshments. This year some of the outside activities on offer include; bouncy castle and slide, sumo suits, tombola, hook a duck, bungee run and a whole host of sporting activities. Whilst any profits will be used to help maintain the park and provide activities for local families to enjoy, the day is primarily about getting the community together for a great day. We have therefore kept activity prices to a minimum, with some being offered free of charge. To finish the day, local duo ‘Kings of the Hill’ will be tuning up and playing some fabulous tunes.

Overall, we’re looking forward to a busy and fun packed few months and look forward to seeing many of you for our BIG DAY OUT in June. Be sure to follow us on Facebook or check out future issues of the Parish magazine for updates.
